JetBlue Increase Checked Baggage Fees
Friday, 17 Jan 2020
JetBlue have increased checked baggage fees as of January 16, 2020. An initial checked bag will now cost $35 and a second checked bag will now cost $45. This is an increase of $5 for both an initial and second checked bag.
JetBlue previously increased checked baggage fees in August 2018. Other airlines quickly followed suit including Air Canada, United and WestJet.
All JetBlue Blue Basic, Blue and Blue Extra passengers will be subject to the price increase for flights booked from January 16, 2020. Passengers flying in Blue Plus or JetBlue Mint class, Mosaic members and JetBlue cardholders will not be subject to the initial checked bag fee. JetBlue cardholders and Blue Plus passengers will still have to pay $45 if they check a second bag.
Any passenger travelling with Mosaic members, and up to three passengers flying with a JetBlue Plus Cardmember on the same itinerary, will not have to pay the increase.
If you booked your flight prior to January 16, 2020, you can still pay $30 for a checked bag and $40 for a second checked bag.
All passengers can save $5 on checked bag fees by paying in advance on either the JetBlue website or via the JetBlue at least 24 hours prior to departure.
If you would prefer to avoid airline baggage fees altogether, you can send your luggage directly to your destination. This means you can bring as much as you like whilst still travelling luggage-free.
