Emirates Checked Baggage Allowance:
‘Weight concept’ flights, Economy Special: 20 kg (33 lbs), Economy Saver: 25 kg (44 lbs), Flex: 30 kg (66 lbs), Flex Plus: 35 kg (77 lbs), free of charge. Business: 40 kg (88 lbs). First: 50 kg (110 lbs).
The weight can be distributed across as many bags as you like. Items must not exceed 300 cm (118 in) in total dimensions. No single bag may weigh more than 32 kg (70 lbs).
On flights within the Americas and within the US and Europe, allowances are based on a ‘piece concept’. Economy Special and Saver passengers are permitted to check one bag up to 23 kg (50 lbs), free of charge; Flex and Flex Plus customers may check two pieces, weighing up to 23 kg (50 lbs) each; First and Business class passengers are allowed two bags up to 32 kg (70 lbs) each.
The total dimensions of bags on 'piece concept' flights must not exceed 150 cm (59 in). If they are oversized, up to 300 cm (118 in), a fee will be applied.
If you wish to purchase additional baggage allowances, substantial fees must be paid. These vary according to route and fare type.
On a flight between Australia and Africa, for example, you would expect to pay USD50 for each kg over the allowance on this flight. On 'piece concept' flights, it would cost USD250 for an extra piece of luggage.
Emirates Checked Baggage for Children
Those travelling with an infant are permitted to check an extra piece of luggage free of charge, as long as it weighs no more than 10 kg (22 lbs), on most Emirates flights excluding routes to and from destinations in the Americas and Africa. On routes to and from the Americas and Africa one cabin bag not exceeding 22 by 15 by 8 inches (55 by 38 by 20 centimetres) of maximum 5 kg (11lbs) is permitted free of charge, no additional checked luggage allowance is provided.
A carry-cot or pushchair may also be carried as a carry-on item, or checked, free of charge.
Emirates Checked Baggage and Exceptional Items
Exceptional items such as sports equipment and musical instruments can normally be carried as standard luggage, depending on weight and size.
