Cathay Pacific Carry-On Baggage Allowance:
One item of hand luggage, 56 x 36 x 23 cm (22 x 14 x 9 in). Economy and Premium Economy: 7 kg (15 lbs); Business: 10 kg (22 lbs); First: 15 kg (33 lbs). PLUS a small personal item, 40 x 30 x 15 cm (16 x 12 x 6 in).
On flights between Hong Kong and Auckland/ Christchurch the cabin baggage allowance is as follows: Economy: 1 x 7 kg (15 lbs); Premium Economy/ Business: 2 x 7 kg (15 lbs), PLUS a small personal item, 40 x 30 x 15 cm (16 x 12 x 6 in).
Cathay Pacific Carry-On Baggage and Musical Instruments
You may bring small musical instruments on board as part of your carry-on baggage. They must not exceed 7 kg in weight or dimensions of 93 x 39 x 24 cm, including the case. Alternatively, you can purchase an additional seat for your instrument, providing it does not exceed 136 x 48 x 44 cm and that it does not weigh more than 32 kg.
Cathay Pacific Carry-On Baggage and Prohibited Items
Certain items are considered dangerous and can, therefore, not be brought on board an aircraft in your carry on luggage. Such items include:
Guns,
Toy guns,
Knives,
Axes,
Crowbars,
Drills and drill bits.
Cathay Pacific Checked Baggage Allowance:
On most flights, Economy: one bag weighing up to 23 kg (50 lbs) in total. This increases to two bags upto 25 kg (50 lbs) each in Premium Economy, two bags upto 32 kg (70 lbs) each in Business Class, and three bags upto 32 kg (70 lbs) each in First Class. Infants not in their own seat have an allowance of one bag, weighing no more than 23 kg (50 lbs), plus one car seat and one stroller.
On flights between Hong Kong and Auckland/ Christchurch, the checked baggage allowance is as follows: Economy: 1 x 23 kg (50 lbs); Premium Economy: 2 x 23 kg (50 lbs); Business: 3 x 23 kg (50 lbs). Infants not travelling in their own seat are given an allowance of 1 checked bag at 23 kg (50 lbs) and max dimensions of 158 cm (62 in), plus one car seat and one stroller.
Bags on the above flights cannot exceed 158 cm (62 inches) in total dimensions and no single bag may weigh more than 32 kg (70 lbs).
On flights to/ from the Americas the checked baggage allowance is as follows: Economy: 1 x 23 kg (50 lbs), Premium Economy: 2 x 23 kg (50 lbs), Business: 2 x 32 kg (70 lbs) First: 3 x 32kg (70lb). Each piece of luggage must not exceed 158 cm (62 in) on flights to/ from the Americas.
On flights to/ from the Americans, infants travelling on an adult’s lap have an allowance of one extra bag with a weight allowance equivalent to an adult ticket in the same class, and max dimensions of 115 cm (45 in), plus a car seat and stroller.
Note that Marco Polo Club and Oneworld members may receive increased baggage allowances.
Cathay Pacific Excess Baggage
If you have luggage that exceeds Cathay Pacific’s inclusive checked baggage weight allowance, you must pay a fee, which varies according to the route travelled. On most routes, prices range from USD 60 to USD 150 per over weight piece. Luggage over 32kg will not be accepted.
Items that exceed 158cm (the dimension are the sum of it's width, height and length) are subject to a fee of USD 200. Items in excess of 203cm will not be accepted.
Cathay Pacific Baggage Allowance for Sports Equipment
Sports equipment is accepted as part of your checked baggage, provided it fits within the above size and weight restrictions. Oversized items will incur excess baggage fees. If travelling with a bicycle, you should contact the airline as far in advance as possible to ensure there is space for your bike on the aircraft.
