The Weirdest Things Our Customers Have Tried to Ship

Friday, 29 Nov 2024

At Send My Bag, we handle shipments of all shapes and sizes, getting essential items from point A to point B for people across the globe. While our shipments are usually pretty standard, including baggage for uni students moving abroad, home comforts for expats, and even Christmas gifts, over the years, we've seen a surprising range of requests, proving just how creative people can get when they think of "luggage."

Of course, most people use us to send things like clothes, books, or sports equipment. But occasionally, we get asked about items that push the boundaries of what anyone would expect to ship. Here’s a rundown of some of the most unusual requests we’ve ever received – some of which are pretty hilarious, while others are downright odd!

Our List of the Most Bizarre Shipping Requests

1. 30kg of Elephant Dung
Yes, someone genuinely asked us about shipping a massive load of elephant dung. Whether it was meant for fertilising a garden or something else, we decided it wasn't the right fit for our service!

2. Homemade Meals for Uni Kids
We totally understand the desire to make students feel at home – and nothing says “home” quite like a homemade lasagna! Unfortunately, cooked meals can’t make it past customs, but it’s the thought that counts.

3. Personalised Playboy Magazines
In one of the more "personal" requests, a customer wanted to send some Playboy magazines featuring none other than their partner.

4. An Alligator Head as “Artwork”
Artwork comes in many forms, and apparently, an alligator head is one of them! Museums might appreciate this more than customs, but it’s certainly not our typical shipment request.

5. Samurai Swords and WW1 Artillery
While some historical artifacts are priceless, items like swords and emptied WW1 artillery shells are best left out of our shipments. Close calls with customs taught us that history can sometimes be a bit too heavy!

6. Stuffed Pets
For those who cherish their pets, the loss of one can be hard. We’ve been asked to transport preserved pets on more than one occasion. But as sentimental as it may be, we’d recommend other ways to remember them.

7. Kangaroo Scrotum Bottle Opener
A quirky souvenir from Australia, this was one request that stood out (and not just because of the name). Apparently, it’s a popular souvenir to bring home!

8. A Laminated Photograph of Joe Biden
One customer had a rather straightforward declaration: they just wanted to ship a single laminated photo of Joe Biden. Some things are hard to explain, but who are we to judge?

9. Ultra Realistic Sex Doll
Sometimes we see “dolls” with very lifelike qualities. While these might be meaningful to the owner, it’s another item that we’d suggest handling with care – and maybe a little discretion!

10. “Can You Ship My Car?”
We often get asked if we can ship larger items. While we can ship a lot, a full-size car just doesn’t make it into the “bag” category – no matter how creative our customers may be!

As funny as these requests are, they’re a good reminder to double-check what’s allowed for shipping before sending it our way! We’re here to help you move essentials, but sadly, we still have to draw the line at elephant dung and military artifacts.
